Welcome to the Space Show (Uchuu Show e Youkoso)
Five primary school kids decided to spend their summer vacation together at a camp. Initially, the children enjoy the freedom from adult supervision, but that all changes when they encounter a seemingly injured dog, known as Pochi. This encounter marks the beginning of a life changing and an amazing adventure for the five kids. The movie premiered in Japanese theaters in February 2010 and has since then various film festivals across the globe, with the most recent one being in Washington, DC last week. The movie is an original work by the staff that created Kamichu! and Read or Die with animation provided by A-1 Pictures (Fairy Tail, Blue/Ao no Exorcist).

Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture
Moyashimon
is one of the first titles to premier on the relatively new NoitaminA channel in Japan, a channel that attempt to "defy" the current anime archetypes that had taken form over the past 7-8 years. Premiering in October 2007, Moyashimon is a short 11 episode series that that centers around Sawaki Souemon Tadayasu and his ability to see and communicate with bacteria and other microorganisms. Together with his childhood friend, Kei Yuuki, they are about to begin their lives at Agricultural College, an experience they could have never imagined. Yuuichirou Yano (Mujin Wakusei Survive, Patapata Hikousen no Bouken), Natsuko Takahashi (Gakuen Heaven, Nurarihyon no Mago), and Telecom Animation Film (The Daughter of Twenty Faces) are director, screenwriter, and animation studio, respectively.
As this is fall break, we will show all 11 episodes + 4 microbe theater deluxe specials.

New York Anime Festival/Comic-Con Reminder:
Hotel and transportation are set. For those of you going on the trip, you should have received an email from me. If you did not, please email me at: waw2@jhu.edu as soon as possible to find out any logistical information that you may have missed and/or not heard/received. I will be contacting you over the weekend/early next week to provide any final logistical matters. We will be going in two separate groups.

AnimeUSA:
While New York Anime Festival/Comic-Con still has yet to come and go, we will begin to collect deposits for AnimeUSA. AnimeUSA will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, Virginia. This convention will take place on November 18, 2011 through November 20, 2011 (weekend before Thanksgiving). Given the lower cost of AnimeUSA, we have the luxury of splitting into two rooms (assuming costs stay down). To keep things cheap, we will be attempting to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street from the convention site. As usual, we cover convention registration and transportation to/from the convention. Because pre-registration ends by October 31, we will be collecting a $40 deposits starting this weekend and the deadline for all deposits will be Saturday October 22. As usual, this is a first come first serve basis where we will take up to 10-12 people and any extra leftover cash from the hotel expense will be rightfully returned to you. Also as usual, once hotels and convention tickets are booked, you will forfeit your deposit if you decide to drop out.
