New York Anime Festival/Comic-Con Reminder:
This weekend is New York Anime Festival and Comic Con! For those who paid for the trip, you should have received an email from me by now regarding logistics. If you have not received an email from me or have questions about the trip, LET ME KNOW ASAP! Email waw2@jhu.edu regarding these matters.
This Weekend:
Time: 7pm
Location: Maryland 109 (Friday), Maryland 110 (Saturday)
Friday October 14, 2011
For those who are not attending New York Anime Festival and Comic Con, JHAC will still be hosting an informal meeting. Members are encouraged to bring/suggest titles at this open forum or come and simply watch what other members have in store for you. Regular meetings will resume on Friday October 21.
Saturday October 15, 2011
Same as above.
AnimeUSA:
While New York Anime Festival/Comic-Con still has yet to come and go, we will begin to collect deposits for AnimeUSA. AnimeUSA will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, Virginia. This convention will take place on November 18, 2011 through November 20, 2011 (weekend before Thanksgiving). Given the lower cost of AnimeUSA, we have the luxury of splitting into two rooms (assuming costs stay down). To keep things cheap, we will be attempting to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street from the convention site. As usual, we cover convention registration and transportation to/from the convention. Because pre-registration ends by October 31, we will be collecting a $40 deposits starting this weekend and the deadline for all deposits will be Saturday October 22. As usual, this is a first come first serve basis where we will take up to 10-12 people and any extra leftover cash from the hotel expense will be rightfully returned to you. Also as usual, once hotels and convention tickets are booked, you will forfeit your deposit if you decide to drop out.
Blog Updates
For those who are unaware, our website can be found at: http://jhu-anime.blogspot.com/
3 new polls have been added to the blog:
- Have you seen Magical Girl/Mahou Shoujo/Puella Magi Madoka Magica?
- What new anime series are you looking forward to this fall? (Refer to Upcoming Anime Season tab for more info on the shows)
- What completed anime series did you enjoy last season?
Comments are open to all for suggestions, recommendations and the like. We encourage members to share their thoughts on topics regarding the posts as well as anything anime, manga, visual novel, light novel, and video game related. Thoughts on current titles or past titles are also welcome. As usual, any suggestions for the blog itself or how meetings are run are greatly appreciated.
