George-kaichou’s Decrees

Starting on Saturday, there will be a slight change to our meeting structure to better accommodate members who cannot stay for the full duration of our meetings. Instead of showing one series for four hours, we will be splitting the meeting into two-hour blocks.

For the first block, we will continue to show full series over multiple weeks. The second block will be used for one-meeting previews along with OVAs.

So say we all!

This Weekend:

Time: Friday 7pm
Location: Maryland 109
Time: Caturday 7pm
Location: Maryland 110

Watch Kino no Tabi episodes 9-13,0 + Movies
From ANN: "The story follows the travels of Kino, a young adventurer who rides a talking motorcycle named Hermes. They explore the people and cultures of different places throughout their adventures, spending only three days at each location."

Caturday September 22, 2012

Watch Hyouka episodes 8-11
From ANN: "Hōtarō Oreki doesn't like to do things that he considers a waste of energy. However, things start to change when he enters high school because even though he does not want to join any non-compulsory school activities, his older sister requested him to join the deserted Classics Club so that it won't get demolished. Unknown to him, another student Eru Chitanda already planned to join; but instead of being free from club obligations, Hōtarō eventually joined as he is strangely unable to refuse nor to escape from Eru's passionate gaze of curiosity. Together with his friends Satoshi and Mayaka, they began to discuss a variety of mysteries in school that only Hōtarō seems to be able to solve; including the mystery that lingered on from Eru's childhood memory."

Watch Jormungand episodes 1-4
From ANN: "The series follows Koko Hekmatyar, a young arms dealer who sells weapons under HCLI, an international shipping corporation that secretly deals in the arms trade. As one of the company's unofficial weapon dealers, she secretly sells weapons in many countries while avoiding the local authorities and law enforcement as most of her work is actually illegal under international law. Traveling with her is her team of bodyguards who are mostly composed of ex-military veterans. Her latest addition to her crew is Jonah, a seemingly emotionless child soldier who is skilled in combat yet ironically hates arms dealers. Jonah joins Koko as he wishes to find the arms dealer responsible for his family's death. What follows is Koko and her crew's escapades around the world."

Spastic Time:

"Image of the Week" and "Anime of the Week" are more Shana-chan's thing. Too restrictive for my taste. So now there is "Spastic Time". YAYZ! It will kind of be like its predecessors and kind of like whatever crazy thoughts I have at the time of writing it.

This week will feature a young Koko Hekmatyar from Jormungand as she takes her first steps in building her future career. While looking at this picture we must ask ourselves, "What makes weaponry so exquisite?" I feel the answer is a difficult one to parse apart. Perhaps it relates to our desire for power and glory, or to our desire to understand our own mortality, or to our desire for shiny objects.

In my opinion, the truth is most likely a combination of all three and more. Right now, I am content just to enjoy their image with reckless abandon.
