Some of you may know Tecmo as the creator of Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive video games. The question is do you remember someone called Rio in any of their games? Turns out that Tecmo will be helping XEBEC animate this show for the Winter 2010/2011 season. It is set to premier on January 4, 2011. Following in the footsteps of her famous mother Rio is attempting to gather all 13 legendary Gate cards. Those who gather all 13 are known as the "Most Valuable Casino Dealer." Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season
Given the line up of this season, Kimi ni Todoke is undoubtedly the most anticipated show. Given the cliffhanger it left us with last year, it was only a matter of time before the cat had to come out of the bag. The question remains as to how much of the manga material is actually available to cover. Kimi ni Todoke is a coming of age shoujo series that follows Sawako Kuronuma. Throughout her life she has been seen as a malicious and ghost-resembling character by her peers when she is actually just timid. This led to her nickname Sadako. Now in high school, Sawako meets the most popular guy in her class, Shouta Kazehaya, who decides to help with her timidness. The relationship between the two begins to slowly develop from there. Staff, cast, and animation studios are all expected to remain unchanged. Kimi ni Todoke's second season will premier on January 4, 2011.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is a mysterious magical girl project announced in late 2010. The only thing known about the series is it's amazing staff. The show will be directed by Akiyuki Shinbou, series composition done by Gen Urobuchi, character design by Ume Aoki and Takahiro Kishida, music by Yuki Kajiura, and animation production by SHAFT. With a line up like this one can only hope it doesn't crash. See the notes at the bottom of the post if you don't know who some of the staff. The show is set to premier on January 6, 2011.

Ever since he acquired that power ten years ago, he has had a dream about a war with cats...One day, Merry wandered from his dream into the real world. Wolverine
Wolverine is the second of four Marvel/Madhouse anime collaboration. The first was the disastrous Iron Man that aired this past fall. The story initially takes place in New York where Logan, or better known as Wolverine, falls in love with Mariko. However, Mariko suddenly disappears and Logan, who suspects that she was kidnapped, heads to Japan to search for her. While the trailer looks great for this show, given the performance of Iron Man, anything can really happen to this show and it's looking pretty grim at the moment. However, the staff is different from Iron Man so maybe it will be for the better. Hiroshi Aoyama is directing. Wolverine premiers on January 7, 2011. This will likely get picked up by G4 for a US release similar to Iron Man. Though expect for it in the latter half of 2011.

Gosick
Based on the light novel by Kazuki Sakuraba, Gosick is set in 1924 in a fictional European country. Kujo Kazuya is the third son of a Japanese Imperial soldier who transfers to St. Marguerite Academy. At St. Marguerite, he meets Victorique, a mysterious girl who refuses to attend class. Victorique prefers to spend her time looking reading or solving mysteries. Because St. Marguerite is famous for its horror stories and urban legends, and of course Kazuki's nosiness, Victorique and Kazuki often get involved in various mysteries and struggle to solve them. The show begins on January 7, 2011. Animation is by Bones. The show is probably the second most anticipated show, of course after Kimi ni Todoke 2nd season as mentioned earlier.
Episodes: 24? (Bones tends to animate longer series)

Cardfight!! Vanguard

I unfortunately do not see any card games on motorcycles, however....

Freezing
I personally do not see what's so interesting about Freezing, but apparently people are getting hyped up about it. Freezing will be your ecchi action series for the season. In a world where the Earth is invaded by "The Nova," who have the power known as freezing. A new breed of female warriors are created through manufactured tissues and embedded into their bodies to combat these beings. The female warriors require a younger boy as a partner to fight and are the only known beings to stand up against "The Nova." Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Janain Dakara ne!!
A show with a title essentially as long as Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai. Only difference is this show involves a big brother instead of a little sister. Shuusuke Takanashi has a habit of collecting eroge and pornographic material. Nao, who is Shuusuke's younger sister, prefers to have her perverted older brother over a cool one. One day, Iroha Tsuchiura, who is Shuusuke's childhood friend, appears and "assaults" Shuusuke. Shuusuke now finds himself in a love triangle between his sister and childhood friend...I sense another incest show coming....and the 2010 incest trend continues? This show begins on January 8, 2011. ZEXCs will be animating Keitarou Motonaga....*insert evil laugh here*... is directing.

Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu!
The sequel to the Summer 2010 series title Mitsudomoe. The show will continue following the crazy school life of the three triplets: Futaba Marui, Mitsuba Marui, and Hitoha Marui. The show will continue with its ridiculous and occasionally disturbing gags. Unfortunately, the show is planned for (an odd) 8 episodes. The fun continues on January 8, 2011. Nothing much to say here except watch the original season to get the full "misunderstanding" of the show. An OVA for the first series is also due for release on the 7th volume of the BD/DVD in Japan on February 23, 2011.

Tatsumi Oga is known as the strongest juvenile delinquent and attends a high school for delinquents. One day he finds a baby boy who happens to be the son of the demon king. Tatsumi had apparently been chosen to raise the boy along with the boy's maid, Hilda, and thus his new life with the baby boy begins. It just so happens that Ayumu deprives another mahou shoujo, Haruna, of her magical powers and thus asked to take her place to fight against the anti-magical girl system, "Megalo." After a 2 year break, Bleach is back with a 4th movie. The script for this movie is specifically overseen by manga author Tite Kubo. Unfortunately, that suddenly changes when various people condemned to hell suddenly escape into the real world begin to wreak havoc. Ichigo's sister, Yuzu is captured by one of the members from hell and now has to enter hell itself to rescue her. Eventually, Yukiteru befriends the Lord of Time and Space, Deus Ex Machina, who gives Yukiteru's phone the ability to record the events of the future. Little did Yukiteru know, he has been forced into a game where he must now find and kill those with the same "ability" in order to live and become Deus's successor. Yuri Seijin Naoko-san (OVA)
Based on the comedy manga of the same name, Yuri Seijin Naoko-san is a short 6 minute OVA. T.P. Sakura: Time Paladin Sakura (OVA)
Time Paladin Sakura is a two part spin-off series of the popular Da Capo franchise. Obviously it will focus on the titular character Sakura Yoshino. Unfortunately for many Da Capo fans, the usual staff and cast will not be reprising their respective roles. Instead, a brand new group will be doing the show. Whether this will be for the better or for the worse depends on how big of a Da Capo fan you are. Personally, I think it's a bad idea....The first OVA episode will be available on January 27, 2011 while the second on February 24, 2011.

The next .hack title in the franchise. The story takes place in 2020 where The World has been improved into Revision X compared to Revision 2. Mazinkaizer SKL (OVA) Episode 1 of 3
Mazinkaiser SKL is a spin-off story that apparently does not require any prior knowledge of the Mazinkaiser series or Mazinger series. A special screening was shown in November and a special edition DVD was released to special subscribers in December. Ken Kaido and Ryo Magami are the two main pilots of the OVA. Mazinkaiser supposedly promises a very high-geared action mecha show. The first OVA will be available to the public on January 28, 2011.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu ~Matsuri~ (OVA)
As a sequel to the popular Winter 2010 series, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is getting a two part OVA starting on February 23, 2011. Whether or not the rumor of the supposed TV sequel still holds is another issue as that news seems to have been modified. Regardless, those who enjoyed the original TV run should be pleased by the new OVA and hope that it will provide a full sequel in the near future.

Tales of Symphonia Tethe'alla-hen (OVA) Episode 4 of 4
The fourth and final episode of the Tethe'alla arc in the Tales of Symphonia adaptation. It will likely finish the group's travels in Tethe'alla and make their return to Sylvarant. A third set of OVAs was announced earlier this year and planned for 2011/2012. The third OVA is likely the final set of OVAs that will conclude the entire adaptation of the Tales of Symphonia game released in 2003 and 2004.

Koi Sento (OAD)
Set in 2710 in the city of Nara, where the national capital has been relocated, the country's cultural treasures and buildings have been moved and assembled inside a humongous building for historical preservation. Because of these odd circumstances, the two ended up in on a sight-seeing date throughout the locales of Nara. The unknown OAD is due for release on February 25, 2011.

Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu (OVA) Episode 3 of ?
After the craptacular first episode released in June 2010, and a supposedly improved second episode, hopefully the third will improve it further. The story follows Tsubaki, who is used to being at the top. At her high school's entrance ceremony and failing to become the top student, she meets the one who topped her, a rude first year known as Kyouta. Because of his insults, Tsubaki purposely cuts his hair. Infuriated by this, Kyouta wants Tsubaki to repay him with her body. In her defense, Tsubaki cuts Kyouta's hair even shorter. With that, Kyouta forcefully kisses her and promises her that he will make Tsubaki his woman. The love-hate shoujo title continues on February 25, 2011.

Fortune Arterial (OAD)
Bundled with the 6th volume of the manga on February 26, 2011, the contents of the Fortune Arterial OAD remains unkown. It is unclear as to whether it will be a spin-off of the recent, yet horrid anime series or another aspect of the franchise.

Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa (movie)
The second movie of the popular Macross Frontier series and supposedly a follow-up to the Itsuwari no Utahime/False Diva movie that premiered in 2009. No specific details about the movie has been revealed. However, given the first movie, it may likely be an alternative version of the latter half of the series. The movie is due for premier in Japanese theaters on February 26, 2011. It is unconfirmed as to when the DVD/BD will be available, though it is likely late 2011 or sometime in 2012 at the earliest.
