George-kaichou’s Decrees

In regards to what we show in general, I'm thinking of continuing last year's system of having separate shows on Fridays and Saturdays, so that people who can only come on one day and not the other won't have any continuity issues for longer series. I would also like to continue the system of seasonal preview nights to show things that people might not otherwise have watched.

So say we all!

This Weekend:

Time: Friday and Caturday 7pm
Location: Maryland 110

Friday September 7, 2012

Vote on which show to watch for the first set of Fridays.

Watch Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I
From ANN: "Guts is a young and highly skilled mercenary living in a medieval era of the Midland monarchy. During the siege of a castle, he catches the attention of Griffith, leader of a mercenary army called Band of the Hawk. As the two meet again, Guts ends up joining the notorious group."

Watch The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
From ANN: "It is mid-december, and SOS Brigade chief Haruhi Suzumiya announces that the Brigade is going to hold a Christmas party in their clubroom, with Japanese hotpot for dinner. The brigade members Kyon, Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina and Itsuki Koizumi start preparing everything for the party, such as costumes and decorations. But a couple of days later, Kyon arrives at school only to find that Haruhi is missing. Not only that, but Mikuru claims she has never known Kyon before, Koizumi is also missing, and Yuki has become the sole member of the literature club. The SOS Brigade seems to have never existed, nor has Haruhi Suzumiya. No one in the school has ever heard about her… except for Kyon."

Caturday September 8, 2012

Summer preview night. We will watch one or two episodes of animes that came out this past summer.

Anime of the Week

To make this section more useful, Image of the Week has been changed to Anime of the Week where a different anime title will be featured in each week's email. The point of this is to discover what may be lost gems, obscure titles, underrated titles, or buried treasure in the anime world. These titles may or may not necessarily be shown at future meetings. Each title will come with a brief background.

This week FLCL (フリクリ) will be featured. Pronounced in English as Fooly Cooly, FLCL is an original video animation series written by Youji Enokido, directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki and produced by the FLCL Production Committee, which included Gainax, Production I.G, and Starchild Records.*

FLCL revolves around Naota Nandaba, a 12-year-old working class boy living with his widowed father and grandfather. His life in the city of Mabase is interrupted by the arrival of Haruko Haruhara, who runs over Naota with her Vespa scooter, gives him CPR, then hits him on the head with a blue vintage Rickenbacker 4001 left-handed electric bass guitar. Naota discovers that the blow to his head created a N.O. portal, through which very large Medical Mechanica robots periodically emerge. This portal calls upon both sides of the brain's though process to mentally call objects through light-years of space.*

Is this a story of government/alien conspiracies, a young boy's adolescent troubles, or some kind of anti-beta-brain-wave succulent-anime goodness?!? I HAVE NO IDEA. And I have watched this thing a least ten times. One thing is true, this show is one of a kind. I urge you to check it out if you haven't yet. Watch through the whole thing once and I guarantee you will understand why this anime has a cult following.

Who is this new guy posting on Shana-chan's Blog?!

Hi all, this is nateinu. You can just call me baka-inu for short. (Maybe I realize that is one character longer, maybe I don't~~ ) With life comes change and unfortunately that means I am in charge of updating the blog now. *sad face* Hopefully someone else will be do the actual writing from now on but we will see how that goes~~

Fear not, Shana-chan is not dead so maybe we will continue to have glorious reviews of current seasons. But maybe not. I haven't talked to Shana-chan about it... >.>
